Veena Malik (born Zahida Malik) is a Pakistani Film and Television actress and model. Veena Malik was born in a conservative family of Rawalpindi, an industrial city of Pakistan. Her father is a doctor who has served in army medical hospitals for several years. She faced great adversity from her family when announcing her decision to join showbiz. It was her grandmother’s persuasiveness which enabled her to get her father to finally agree to her working in movies and television plays. Nevertheless the general reaction around her wasn’t very encouraging and she painfully recalls the time when having shared her decision with her best friend she heard the friend mother sarcastically commenting, “Why on earth is she doing this? I always thought her to be such a nice girl.”
Like hundreds of other glamour world dreamers, she came to Lahore with dreams unlimited. Her dreams came true when she met the likes of Mukhtar and Jarar Rizvi, the-fresh-faces promoters. Veena Malik was surrounded by great controversy when her alleged nude photographs hit the internet. Although there is a striking resemblance between her and the model in the pictures, Veena repeatedly denied posing nude in front of camera. In an interview to a magazine Veena said; “The photo-shoot you are mentioning is part of the anti-Veena campaign by my opponents in the film industry. I never went for a nude-shoot. Those are fake pictures. I am not bothered about them since those are not my photographs. I know there is a striking resemblance between the girl in those snaps and me but just resemblance takes us nowhere.” Veena Malik and fellow actress and rival Meera made a lot of harsh comments about each other in interviews. Veena even stated that Meera threatened to throw acid on her face, but this could not be verified. Meera’s personal assistant Mukhtar left Meera and started working with Veena, which caused Meera a lot of anger, and she even accused Veena of having an affair with Mukhtar.
